Make a Plan to Vote: Special Election on Select Board Expansion. Your Vote on January 13th Matters!

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Weston residents will vote in a single-question Special Election on whether to increase the Select Board from three members to five. This is an important decision that will shape how our town is governed in the years ahead.

Although Town Meeting has already supported this change twice with strong majorities, state law requires one final step: voters must confirm the decision at the ballot box. Without this final vote, the change to a larger Select Board will not move forward.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO VOTE IN-PERSON AT TOWN HALL FOR THIS FINAL BALLOT VOTE.

We cannot assume that others will make this happen, and as Yogi Berra famously observed – it ain’tover ‘til it’s over!

Why a five-member board is beneficial:

Weston is managing more responsibilities, larger projects, and more complicated demands than in the past. A five-member Select Board would bring:

  • More hands and more time to handle ongoing work that the Select Board leads

  • A broader set of perspectives, expertise and robust debate when making important decisions

  • Greater capacity to keep projects and initiatives on time and on budget

  • Allows board members to discuss key projects between scheduled meetings

Vote In-Person at Town Hall

  • Early voting is open from January 5th – 9th, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm (to 1:00 pm on Friday the 9th)

  • For Election Day, Tuesday, January 13th Town Hall voting hours are extended to 7:30 am - 6:00 pm

Complete voting information is available on the Town website: https://www.westonma.gov/1964/Special-Town-Election

Your Vote is Crucial

Democracy is not a spectator sport, and every vote makes a difference. Please take a few minutes to cast your ballot and ensure your voice is part of this important decision.
