Our Future is Decided by Those Who Show Up — Weston Needs You at Town Meeting
Why Your Participation Matters
Town Meeting is where Weston voters directly decide how our town is governed, what it looks like, and what it costs for years to come. This year’s warrant includes the $115.6 million town and school budget along with governance and zoning changes that carry major implications for all Weston residents. These decisions are too big, too consequential, and too permanent to leave to a small group.
Three Years Later, Let’s Finish What We Started: Expand the Select Board from 3 to 5
One particularly important item on the May 5 warrant is the proposal to expand Weston’s Select Board from three to five members. Three years ago, voters overwhelmingly supported this change, but the Select Board failed to respect the will of the voters, and did not move it forward. Now, it’s back before voters again. If you believe, as we do, that Weston needs broader leadership, fresh perspectives, and diversity of skills, you must show up and vote again to make your voice count. If you want change, you must show up for it.
Don’t let others make these critical decisions without you.
One notable change to the Warrant is the recent announcement that the Moderator will not bring forth the proposal for 3A zoning this year, due to a two-year moratorium on reintroducing the same plan. With 3A off the table, the meeting is expected to be shorter — but that doesn’t make it less important.
The decisions made at Town Meeting have long-term consequences for how our town operates, how your tax dollars are spent, and how our leadership is structured.
Weston needs you at Town Meeting. Show up. Speak up. Vote.
